PROJECT FOCUS

Overview
Barrow-upon-Soar Parish Council sought to extend the existing cemetery on Cotes Road to provide a further 92 burial plots and landscaping to create a beautiful garden of rest for the village. An area of land adjacent to the cemetery was purchased and plans were drawn up to develop the first phase in 2022.

OUR ROLE

Biba’s Landscapes were appointed by the contractor to carry out the full package of works which included re-modelling the existing levels, new SUDS drainage, a new gravel
surfaced car park and footpaths, a wildflower meadow designed for peace and reflection and new tree and ornamental shrub planting. The project had to be meticulously planned as the only access was through the existing cemetery from one end to the other. Deliveries were timed to avoid busy periods and works were halted whenever a funeral was planned. Close consultation with the Parish Council and local residents was key to the success of the project which also included refurbishment of some of the roads within the existing cemetery
